LIMBOTO – 23 Januari menjadi hari paling bersejarah bagi Gorontalo. Tepat di hari ini diperingati sebagai hari kemerdekaan Gorontalo dari penjajah. 23 Januari juga menjadi tonggak awal perjuangan pembentukan Provinsi Gorontalo, di mana tahun 2000 lalu dipilih jadi hari deklarasi pembentukan provinsi.
“Jadi semangat (patriotik) itu yang selalu kita ambil dalam rangka mendorong kemajuan Gorontalo, termasuk melahirkan Gorontalo jadi provinsi,” ujar Bupati Gorontalo Nelson Pomalingo.
Semangat patriotik ini, lanjut Nelson harusnya menjadi semangat dalam mengisi pembangunan di Gorontalo. Pasalnya saat ini Gorontalo masih memiliki berbagai problem yang belum tuntas, masalah kemiskinan contohnya. Di Kabupaten Gorontalo contohnya, meski dalam lima tahun terakhir mengalami penurunan yang cukup drastis nyaris 5 persen, namun masih ada sekitar 16 persen warga yang dalam kategori miskin. Belum lagi masalah pendidikan, jika bercermin di Kabupaten Gorontalo 65 persen lulusan SD. Warga yang tak menuntaskan wajib belajar 12 tahun ini didorong untuk dorong melalui pendidikan Non Formal, paket A,B C. Dan tidak sekedar pendidikan saja, tapi pemerintah juga mendorong kompetensinya. Tak hanya itu, sekelumit problem lain menjadi tantangan ke depan.
Karena itulah, Nelson yang juga deklarator pembentukan provinsi, mengajak seluruh elemen masyarakat untuk menjadikan semangat patriotik sebagai inspirasi dalam pembangunan.
“Inspirasi 23 Januari itu, pak Nani Wartabone tidak bergerak sendiri, tetapi juga berkat dukungan tim 11. Tim 11 ini menunjukkan bahwa perjuangan itu harus ada kebersamaan, perjuangan itu harus dilakukan secara bersatu. Nah mengisi (pembangunan) Gorontalo kita harus bersatu semua baik rakyat. Di Gorontalo maupun di luar Gorontalo. Baik pemerintah daerah dan pemerintah pusat,” terangnya.
“Artinya menunjukkan bahwa kebersamaan utama mengisi ini. Kalau jalan sendiri-sendiri tidak bisa,” pungkas Nelson.
